DUBAI, UAE – (July 3, 2026) Baseball United, the first professional baseball league focused on
the Middle East and South Asia, today announced the next phase of its long-term vision for
baseball across the United Arab Emirates, unveiling a comprehensive program of initiatives that
will be delivered throughout 2026. Since introducing professional baseball to the Middle East,
Baseball United has pursued a vision that extends well beyond staging professional games.
Throughout 2026, Baseball United will focus on expanding participation opportunities,
strengthening engagement with schools and local communities, enhancing coaching and
officiating standards, developing sports workforce pathways, broadening international
relationships and creating new opportunities for partners and fans. As part of this long-term
strategy, the league's next professional season will take place in 2027.
Baseball United has established many of the foundational elements required to support the
long-term growth of baseball in the UAE, including world-class infrastructure, a professional
competition platform, international relationships, and an expanding network of schools,
community organizations, coaches, volunteers, and development partners. By bringing these
stakeholders together, the initiative seeks to create a sustainable pathway that expands
participation, develops future athletes, leaders, and sports professionals, and creates
opportunities for country representation and long-term career growth through sport. Supported
by international expertise, strategic partnerships, and access to quality baseball equipment
through Baseball United's global supplier network, the framework is designed to make baseball
more accessible while creating lasting opportunities for participation, development, and
professional advancement.
"From the beginning, Baseball United has been about much more than professional baseball
games," said Barry Larkin, Chairman and Co-Founder of Baseball United. "Our mission is to
create opportunities, inspire young people, and help establish baseball as a lasting part of the
sporting culture throughout this region. The UAE believed in our vision from day one, and our
commitment to this region has never been stronger. We'll continue investing in communities,
expanding access to the game, and strengthening the foundation that will make Season 2 even
more impactful."
"We're building something designed to last for not just seasons, but for generations," said John
Miedreich, CEO, Baseball United. "Throughout 2026, we'll continue investing in education,
partnerships, infrastructure, and fan engagement while preparing for Season 2 in 2027. This
approach positions Baseball United for sustainable long-term growth across the Middle East
and South Asia."
